What are the Requirements for the ETC Certification Program?

Emergency Telecommunicator Course (ETC) certification is gained through the completion of course and a passing score of 80% on the end of course written examination.

Students who wish to be certified as professional Emergency Telecommunicators by the International Academies of Emergency Dispatch must:

•You do not have to be a citizen to enroll in this International certification!

•Must be able to read and write at a high school graduate or GED level

•Attend an Emergency Telecommunication Course taught by an IAED-certified ETC Instructor

•Pass the ETC Certification Test with a score of 80% or better,

•Agree to abide by the IAED Code of Ethics

The Emergency Telecommunicator Course is a joint effort between the   International Academies of Emergency Dispatch, and Lee DeBoer, who is a certified IAED Emergency Telecommunicator Course Instructor to teach the ETC Course.

This course is designed to train future and new employees who are unfamiliar with communication centers and their technology, legal guidelines, stress factors, and methods of communication.

Topics covered:

* Roles and Responsibilities€--essential knowledge and skills

* Technologies

* Interpersonal Communication--€”the communication cycle, listening, and language problems

* Communication and call processing--€”customer service, types of callers, and high risk calls

* Call classification

* Radio broadcast procedures

*Legal aspects of emergency telecommunication--€”risk management and liability

*Stress management--€”pressures of the job and stress management techniques.

Cost for the ETC Certification:

Other training schools charge $550.00 to $600.00 for this International ETC certification, however, because of the association with Lee DeBoer and International Academies of Emergency Dispatch (IAED) your cost is only $295.00 which includes the student workbook manual and the ETC Certification Exam fee.

Students who successfully complete this program receive:

 • Academy Diploma

 • Official Certificate of Course Completion

• 2 year subscription to the International Journal of Emergency Dispatch

• Pocket membership card

This is not just another basic Telecommunicator course; this is a CERTIFICATION course with continuing education requirements backed up by one of the nation'€™s leading Emergency Dispatch certifying organizations, the International Academies of Emergency Dispatch.

Our SUMMER training session will begin at 8:00 A.M. to 4:00 P.M. Monday through Thursday for four days. NO Friday classes! An example of a starting ETC certified dispatch operator at a local police department is $17.95 - $23.50 per hour most with great employee benefits!
